Stars Over Valpo LIVE 3/29/15

This was a way cool event, held by WVLP, at the Valparaiso University Center for the Performing Arts, Duesenberg Recital Hall. What was more way cool was that this event highlighted our local NWI musical starts. What was way way cool, I know most of them!

WVLP on 98.3 FM ValpRadio is a community radio station is totally independent, which allows them to "exercise unique media freedom of speech". This means that approximately 50% of the music on WVLP comes from local artists. That is good news for us.

I have stated before, and will state again, NWI is dripping in talent, both in music and in the other arts. We need to continue to showcase this talent. We need to become the cultural artistic melting pot of the country.

Here are photos of who starred this evening. Yes, there are many more out there. It was just this time for these musicians to shine for us.

Paul Henry's Acoustic Jam 237

Here are some photos of the 237th Acoustic JAM. The photo above probably helps to depict what this building was used for in the past. No, not a library. This place has a lot of character. A lot of people have been through hear for more that 100 years. Not the Acoustic JAM people. They have only been here for maybe the last 5 years. (Dave, correct me please.)

Because of the uniqueness, patrons of PH (Paul Henry's) treat the confines with respect. This is seen not only with the facility. You can see first hand how everyone is respected. From the seasoned artist or musician, to the beginner with their very first painting or song. Do not forget the other patrons that just come to enjoy the talent.

Thursday nights are for the acoustic JAM and potluck table. Normal fee to enjoy the festivities is $5. This helps support the expenses of the gallery. If you bring a potluck dish, or you are an artist that will be performing, or even have art on display (like I do - photographs), you receive a $2 discount at the door (paying only $3).

We never forget about poetry. PH has some of the finest poets come through. Have a poem? Come to PH to recite it!

The evening went on without me. I had to leave early. There was much more to see. I hope you make the time to visit PH, both during the week, weekend, and on the Thursday Acoustic JAM / Potluck event that starts at 7:30 PM.

For more PH you can check out my entries at StreetPhoto.ME. This is a categorized list of blogs with thumb nail photos. PH is towards the end of that page.
