Pete & Kelly + Truman

It is always nice when Pete and Kelly roll into town. It is like they are coming to you. I wish I could make more of their gigs. Tonight they were at Region Ale in Schererville, off US-41. We had a special treat tonight too. Truman was there to add his special touch on percussion and vocal.

Kelly has this huge controlled voice with high range that you can listen to all day. Pete is strong on lead guitar, adding and leading vocals depending on song, and does a great job keeping their music on a high standard. Truman is a great percussionist, does great with fill in vocal, does even better when he is lead vocal, and his wide range in vocal and his demeanor makes him a perfect choice for any kind of song.

Here are some photographs of the evening. Enjoy!

Pete & Kelly LIVE 6/10/17

Good friends, good music, what else can you ask for when you are Pete Calacci and Kelly Skaggs? Well, I guess a place to get together with good friends, to play some good music, and in this case, have some great food!

Pete and Kelly wowed the crowd at 95ate5 Brew Pub. This was their first time playing there, which means an audience that has not heard them before. Kelly's ability to hit notes with a voice that is ass kicking, and Pete's articulation and play on the acoustic guitar, reeled them all in. Of course, Pete and Kelly had their entourage of followers show up too.

This venue, 95ate5 Brew Pub, is a very inviting place with the decor and staff. It is not like walking into many other micro breweries. It is like walking into a friends house for food and entertainment. The food and atmosphere really make 95ate5 Brew Pub a unique place to go have some food and drink. Oh, and did I mention food! I thought it was great!!!

Here are some photos from the evening. Enjoy . . .

There was a lot of difficulty photographing with the sun at their backs. If I had my flash with me I could have overcome it. So, just a couple photos were acceptable. The next set was after the sun went down low enough for the Pub to close the drapes.

Stars Over Valpo LIVE 3/29/15

This was a way cool event, held by WVLP, at the Valparaiso University Center for the Performing Arts, Duesenberg Recital Hall. What was more way cool was that this event highlighted our local NWI musical starts. What was way way cool, I know most of them!

WVLP on 98.3 FM ValpRadio is a community radio station is totally independent, which allows them to "exercise unique media freedom of speech". This means that approximately 50% of the music on WVLP comes from local artists. That is good news for us.

I have stated before, and will state again, NWI is dripping in talent, both in music and in the other arts. We need to continue to showcase this talent. We need to become the cultural artistic melting pot of the country.

Here are photos of who starred this evening. Yes, there are many more out there. It was just this time for these musicians to shine for us.

I would like to thank WVLP 98.3 FM for supporting our NWI musicians, and starring them in a venue like this. This was very nice as a spectator. I can only imagine the warmth each musician felt playing this beautiful venue. Please . . . do this again!
